Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Ear wax removal treatment costs £50 for both ears or £30 for one ear. We have a 'no wax, no fee' policy. If upon examination, we discover that you have no wax to remove but are still experiencing hearing loss, then we will recommend that you visit an Audiologist for a hearing test and we will not charge a fee. If upon examination, we discover that you have no wax to remove but have an infection, then we will recommend that you visit your GP. Occasionally, it may take more than one visit to remove all the wax - you will only pay one fee. The best way to promote quick and thorough removal of wax at the first appointment is to properly soften the wax by using olive oil.
Preparation
Please use an olive oil spray such as Earol (available from most chemists) or olive oil drops in your ears for at least 4-5 days before treatment because this helps with the removal of hardened or impacted wax. Please do not use any chemist product that includes chemicals in your ear because this can cause irritation and does not soften the wax for removal.
How long will it take?
Please allow 30 minutes for your appointment. This allows sufficient time to gather personal and medical information and to complete treatments for either one or both ears. The treatment cost is the same whether the treatment takes up a portion of your appointment time or requires the full appointment time.
I don't know whether I need just one or both ears treated. What should I book?
You will receive a 30 minute appointment for your appointment whether you have one or both ears that need treating. Please indicate initially whether you believe that you require one or both ears treating but the treatment charge will depend upon our assessment of what needs treating and your preference.
Can I pay by credit or debit card?
Yes, we have a card payment facility and also accept payment by cash or cheque. Please make full payment on the day of your treatment (we may make alternative arrangements if we are visiting you at a nursing home).
Can we treat children?
Yes, we can treat children who are 13 years or older, if accompanied by a parent or guardian. This is for safeguarding purposes.
